What does Texas require for teens to get a driver's license?
- 32 hours of instruction by a Licenses Provider
- 7 Hours of Driving with a Licensed Provider
- 7 Hours of Observing with a Licensed Provider
- 30-Hour Driving Logo Completed with a Parent
If I dropped out of high school, do I have to wait until I"m 18 to get my license?
Yes. Persons under 18 must be enrolled and attending school as a condition of being licensed to operate a motor vehicle, unless the person has a high school diploma or GED.

How can I get a duplicate certificate of completion for a driver education course?

Do I need a permit to start classes?
No, you do not need a permit to start taking the class.
What happens if I turn 18 in the middle of the 32-hour teen class?
Teen driver education classroom hours cannot be applied to the 6-hour adult driver education classroom hour requirements. You must complete the full adult driver course or the full teen driver education program.
Policies
When can I start driver ed?
We recommend 15 years of age.
Do you charge a cancellation fee?
You must log into your account to cancel or reschedule your driving lesson at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a $50 late cancellation fee. Any late cancellation fees must be paid before you can schedule any further driving lessons.
What is your refund policy?
If after the first week of class, you wish to switch from a virtual to in-person class there is no charge. If you want to withdraw completely before the 4th class day, there is an $56.25 administration fee. No refunds will be given after the third day of class.
Can I transfer from an out-of-state driving school?
Out-of-state driver education hours do not transfer to Texas. You will need to enroll in our program and complete both the classroom and behind-the-wheel requirements for your age group.
Behind-the-Wheel
Does the class have to be completed to start behind-the-wheel?
Yes. However, once you have your permit you may begin your 30 Hours Parent Log immediately.
When can I start the behind-the-wheel lessons?
You can start behind-the-wheel lessons after you complete the driver ed class and have a Permit.
How do I schedule a behind-the-wheel lesson?
Log into your account and pick from the open dates listed. If a day has two students already listed, you can put yourself on the waiting list. If one of the students drops, you will be informed immediately and can grab that spot.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my driving lesson?
Simply log into your account to cancel or reschedule your driving lesson at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a $50 late cancellation fee. Any late cancellation fees must be paid before you can schedule any further driving lessons.
Can I request to have lessons with a friend?
You and your friend can log into your accounts and chose the same open driving time with the same instructor, if there are enough seats open in the car.
Do I need a temporary permit to schedule my driving lessons?
Yes. We will not allow any students in the car if they do not have a permit. Even if you are just filling observation hours, you MUST have your permit. Failure to bring your permit to the lesson will result in a $50 late cancellation fee.
Do I need to have my own car insurance for behind-the-wheel?
No, you are covered under our commercial insurance during all behind-the-wheel training.
Will I have the same instructor for every lesson?
Our scheduling software lets you see all available driving lessons and who is teaching them. You may choose the same instructor for each lesson if they are open or try a different instructor.
Can I request a specific driving instructor?
Our scheduling software lets you see all available driving lessons and who is teaching them. If your preferred instructor is open, you can select them for a lesson.
What will I learn during my driving lessons?
Our licensed instructors have over 20 years of experience teaching safe driving methods. We will teach you everything from beginning to drive to parallel parking and freeway driving.
Do you offer home pick-up and drop-off?
Not at this time.
Are your instructors licensed?
Yes, each of our instructors is licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations to teach classroom and behind-the-wheel training to all age groups.

Can I use my own car?
No, our vehicles have safety features (passenger brake, passenger mirror, student driver signs, etc.) that don't come in standard cars.
How long can I drive with an instructor?
TDLR allows a student for behind the wheel instruction a maximum time of 2 hours per day.
